Family policies

What families ask us before a child starts.

Photos of your child

We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.

When to keep your child home

A child with a fever, vomiting or a contagious illness stays home and returns after being well for a full day. If a child becomes ill at school, we call you right away and ask you to come promptly. A teacher stays with the child until you arrive.

Drop-off and pickup

We release a child only to the adults on the pickup list you give us, and we ask for ID at the door until we know you. Tell us ahead of time when someone new is coming.

Late pickup

Pickup is at 12:30 p.m. for mornings and 3:00 p.m. for full days. If you are running late, call or text the school so a teacher can stay with your child. We talk with families about repeated late pickups, and the enrollment agreement says what follows.

Meals, snacks and allergies

Families send lunch for full days and a water bottle. The school makes a morning snack with the children: porridge, bread, soup or fruit. Tell us about allergies at the tour; we ask privately once you enroll. We ask families not to send nuts.

Closures for weather and holidays

We close for the usual holidays, a winter break and the summer, and we share the year's closures at the start of the school year. If weather closes the school, we email and text families early in the morning.

Screens and phones

There are no screens in the rooms. We ask families to keep phones away at drop-off and pickup too, so the doorway stays calm for the children.

What to wear and bring

Send clothes your child can manage alone, in layers, and that can get wet or dirty. Rain boots and a hat stay at school for outdoor time, and a spare set of clothes goes in a labeled bag. We prefer plain clothes without pictures or words.

Questions about a policy?

Ask us on a tour, or write to us, and we will explain how it works in the room.
